Mock Up (all)

These are more mock ups of my front cover, contents and double page spread. Each one is being linked by the three circles. My masthead on my front cover and contents are the same font to link the pages together but then I have put a different masthead on my double page spread to make it individual.

mock up

These are some mock up's that I have done of my front cover. This is only the basic layout and photo's of how my magazine would be. I prefer the first one because the image goes better with the title and the text, it also fits better with how I want my magazine.
I have kept the same basic layout and just changed the photo and the article name, I also added a date and issue to the first one to show where it would be placed.

mock up's

This is a mock up of the style of magazine that I would want.
I think this all fits in well together and there would be enough room for an snippet article or little article's.

Layouts

These are some of the layouts that i have designed. I prefer the second one with the articles down the side and just over laping the image.

These are the mastheads that people chose, and that they thought would be suitable for my magazine.

Masthead's

These are some masthead fonts that I have chosen.
The first and second mastheads wouldn't be suitable for my pop magazine because it could be classed as too posh and no in keeping with some of the other mastheads. Whereas the third masthead is bolder and up to date with the type of magazine I will be making.
Some other mastheads that I have chosen don't really stand out or grab the readers attention, whereas some of the others do, and would be more suitable for my magazine.
I did a questionnaire asking 20 people which masthead they preferred. (the result are in the next post)

Vibe Magazine

The vibe magazine is different from others because its more of ‘gangster’ style, which would appeal more to a younger teenage audience. The bold title makes it stand out from the rest of the magazine and is eye catching, also it makes it appear more important. All the articles are in bold writing to make them stand out and seem important, also it catches the readers attention. The image shown on the front of the magazine is a medium shot showing the top half of his body, his body language and facial expressions shows that he is a person not to be messed with, also he is holding a knife which could be seen as quite a negative image because people will see him with a knife and think that they want one too, but then could be positive because he is celebrating the magazine's 15th anniversary.
The contents page has good clear pictures, and clear writing but doesn't really carry on any of the style from the front cover. It also has a section which can be accessed from online which is ideal for a younger audience.

Smooth Jazz Magazine

The smooth Jazz magazine is different to other magazine because it shows a close up of the person’s face, the expression on his face doesn't really give anything away about what is in the magazine and about his new label.

The masthead is written in lower-case and could mean that the music is smooth and soft jazz, the word 'smooth' is written in a soft font whereas the 'jazz' is written quite roughly. All of the subtitles are bold but still in quite a smooth font, also they are quick and catchy subtitles rather than several words.

The small banner across the top an ellipse (...) which grabs the reader attention because they want to know what is happening.

There is a small section that says 'giving the fans what they want' this shows the magazine is thinking about what the audience want.

The content page is quite minimalistic, and also quite dull and pale compared to other magazines. There is only three small pictures which are shown in black and white.to improve the contents page I would add colour to the pictures, to make them stand out more, also add colour to the background possibly the same as the front cover to show the colour scheme has been carried on throughout the magazine.
